Food Offered to Idols
I also used to do some jobs for Sikhs or people of the Sikh religion some call it Seikh religion, l will call it Sikh. I was also doing jobs for Bhuddists as well. That time l didn't understand the communication of the Holy Spirit, and that was the first time l went to someone's house hungry and they were not Christians. I always make sure I eat before l go to someone's home. I did not understand that defiled food can damage your spirit because l could see many people who were Christians buying and eating ready made food from shops, takeaways and restaurants without knowing who made the food.So one day l had no time for lunch and l was so hungry. l needed to eat before l could work, so l was offered tea but l thought no l can not eat something they made here, so l asked for a coke and some crisps. I knew where they bought the staff so l thought, it's okay. I ate the crisps and had the drink then l started doing my job, l couldn't carry on, l was crying non-stop, tears were just dripping from my eyes and l did not know how to stop it. I thought l need to pray right now but where? They didn't believe in what l believe. When l pray l can't pray quietly especially if l have a problem like that and l will need more than 30 minutes. If l did that they were going to tell my other clients because most of them were Buddhists and Sikhs, they were not going to hire me again because most of them knew each other. I couldn't tell them l need to pray, l had to do the job.
I sat down a few minutes trying to think but l was just crying so l started singing praising God. While singing praising God l stopped crying, l was singing till l finished. In my stomach l felt as though l ate something poisonous. It took me about 40minutes to get home and l was singing all the way. When l got home l knelt down and prayed like never before, those days l never used to pray more than 10 minutes but it took me more than 30minutes. I prayed till what l felt in my stomach stopped. I ate the crisps they bought from the shop and l also used to buy the same staff from the same shop they got the staff, the drink and crisps nothing had an expired date. That means if someone buys things from the shop, the moment you handle the things in your hands, if you worship idols those things are now defiled, you bought them so they now belong to you. The moment the groceries get to someone's house and that person worship idols, those things are now defiled, if you go to that house and they offer you anything to eat and you eat it, you have eaten food that has been offered to idols. It is in the Bible Revelation 2:14 But there are a few things I have against you: there are some among you who follow the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak how to lead the people of Israel into sin by persuading them to eat food that had been offered to idols and to practice sexual immorality. Numbers 25:2 These women invited them to sacrificial feasts, where the god of Moab was worshiped. The Israelites ate the food and worshiped the god 3 Baal of Peor. So the Lord was angry with them 4 and said to Moses, “Take all the leaders of Israel and, in obedience to me, execute them in broad daylight,[a] and then I will no longer be angry with the people.”
You can not eat food offered to idols if you want to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Acts 15:29 “eat no food that has been offered to idols; eat no blood; eat no animal that has been strangled; and keep yourselves from sexual immorality. You will do well if you take care not to do these things. With our best wishes.”
Revelation 2:20 But this is what I have against you: you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a messenger of God. By her teaching she misleads my servants into practicing sexual immorality and eating food that has been offered to idols. 21 I have given her time to repent of her sins, but she does not want to turn from her immorality. 22 And so I will throw her on a bed where she and those who committed adultery with her will suffer terribly. I will do this now unless they repent of the wicked things they did with her. 23 I will also kill her followers, and then all the churches will know that I am the one who knows everyone's thoughts and wishes. I will repay each of you according to what you have done.
Next time when l went to another job and they were Sikhs, they showed me where they kept their drinks and said l can help myself anytime l needed a drink. I tried to go the cupboard that is when l understood how the Holy Spirit communicates when it is a “NO”.
